After coming from winning the war, witches appear to Macbeth proclaiming that he will be promoted in ranking and will be king one day. Being king had never crossed Macbeth’s mind up until then so after they told him of his future it engined a spark of hope in him of a possibility to be king. Through this his ambition grows to achieve the goal which he was promised. Also with the influence of Lady Macbeth who questions his manhood in order to fulfill her own desires to be queen. Before he was about kill the king he Macbeth was having doubts and his guilt was eating at him. If not for Lady Macbeth encouraging him to be king like he had promised her, he may have not killed King Duncan. However he was the first one to have the idea of killing the king the gain the throne if not for the others who persuaded Macbeth to follow in the path that the did, then he might have had a different outcome in his future. Thus making him the master of his own destiny.One is then able to characterize Macbeth as someone who is easily persuaded in the wrong direction to get the outcome which he truly wants. After going the throne and the kingdom, Macbeth always felt like there was a target on his back to get him off the throne. Due to this he succumbed to not only killing his best friend who he trusted and fought in battle with, but his son Fleance and Macduff’s wife and children. He killed innocents just for his own satisfaction of knowing that he would keep his place as king which he gave up his good morals for. By this time of the play he feels like he is on top of the world and could do anything because he has killed so many people and he has no been committed of any of these murders. This adds to Macbeth’s characterization because of how his mentality has changed it shows how much greed and ambition has taken over. This adds an emotional reaction to the audience because in the beginning of the play the audience was rooting for Macbeth to be king since he was a good soldier and fought for his kingdom but then changes into the villian he is now. The writer does this the audience knows no to follow in Macbeth’s lead and not to let greed and power become of you to resort to cynical motives or it will be your own destruction like it did with him dying before his reign was even known to the
