Also, Chick-fil-A is known for quirky sayings which are a part of the training of every employee, so “instead of ‘you’re welcome’ [they] say ‘my pleasure’ or ‘would you like a refill?’ is instead ‘may I refresh your beverage?’” (Uddin). This certainly differs from other fast food restaurants, but the biggest difference is in how the customer receives the food. Instead of waiting at the counter to pick up the food, it is instead delivered straight to the table. This can be very convenient and makes the whole dinner this then a hassle. Chick-fil-A also prides itself in giving fast and “second-mile service” which Uddin explained, “[It is] anticipating needs and providing them or doing something without being asked to or expected to.” Overall, all of these things make Chick-fil-A a great place to get a meal because one can expect to not be hassled by the employees. The Chick-fil-A at 5901 W Friendly Av., which was the restaurant we visited, has not received less than a 96.50 sore over the last ten inspections which are conducted twice a year. In the last inspection the Chick-fil-A even received a score of 100 on July 28th, 2015(“Premise information: Chick-fil-A”). The employees are also fast to clean dirty tables after there has been a dinner rush and keep the restaurant tidy even when busy. The employees sweep and wipe tables regularly and are required to wash their hands frequently. Also different clothes are allocated for different spaces according to Uddin; trays, tables and counter tops have the same cloth while booths/chairs are cleaned with another and high chairs themselves are cleaned with wet wipes. Also, gloves are worn when cleaning up body fluids or preparing food and it is required to wash hands again after they are contaminated (Uddin). With the preparation of the food, Chick-fil-A is also at the top of their game. Everyone that is in charge of food preparation is specifically training, so they know what they are doing. To prevent cross contamination a certain person is in charge of battering the chicken and anything else that touches the chicken is yellow (Uddin).
