First, there was an initial assessment given that measured one’s weight, height, and body mass. A questionnaire was provided to check the patient’s prior knowledge of nutrition and CIF in regards to their quality of life. Each participant recorded a three-day diet log. Once reviewed, an informational booklet and a verbal recommendation tailored to one’s needs were provided. A reassessment was scheduled to follow (Culkin , Gabe and Madden). A personalized plan could benefit everyone’s health, not just individuals with CIF. After booklets were distributed, knowledge increased from 40% to 60% as a result of implementing education. 43 people actually completed the study because the others failed for one reason or another. 74% revealed that the booklet was useful and 76% found it very easy to understand. 78% stated that they learned something new (Culkin , Gabe and Madden).
