In this reflective journal I have included the findings of my observation of the physical climate and emotional environment.
3. Body
Classroom Description:
Grade 4 classroom has total of 18 students. This includes 7 boys and 11 girls. The students are asked to do a group work. There are three groups. Each group has 6 students. Two groups have two boys and four girls and the other group has three boys and three girls.
Desk Arrangement:
According to the studies desk arrangement can impact learning process and the students seating in the front rows are more attentive and answer more questions than the students who are sitting in the back rows (Professional Learning Board Llc, n.d.).
Round table arrangement is probably the best option for classroom arrangement if the teacher decides to give a group work, as it encourages the students to sit in a friendly groups, participate in the group discussions and allows the teachers to monitor the groups easily (Professional Learning Board Llc, n.d.).
In the classroom that I have observed, the desks are arranged in round tables. The desks are arranged to make four groups.

Despite all the advantages of classroom decorations, the classroom which I have observed sadly does not have any classroom decorations.
Teacher space:
Teacher space is also a vital part of classroom environment. In the classroom which I have observed, there is enough teacher space to move around. The teacher can easily go around to the groups and can guide the students.
Student Engagement:
The students’ lack of interest in learning creates widespread problem that is manifested as students who are not actively engaged in the classroom, and these students will have relatively poor level of learning and understanding (Zapatero & Maheshwari, 2012).
