A.M., a nine-day old, female. She is a triplet and was born at Valley Hospital in Renton at 31 weeks. A.M. was admitted to Seattle Children’s on 4/15 due to an increase work of breathing and a cardiac anomaly. A.M. was on CPAP when I took care of her, however is now back on a ventilator. Her main treatment is going to be surgery to fix her cardiac anomaly, however this surgery cannot be completed until she is 34 weeks of age. A.M.’s mother moved from Africa in February, because she was told by a doctor that only one set of triplets were ever successfully delivered in the history of Africa. The doctor suggested that she move to a different country. A.M.’s father is unfortunately still back in Africa and is trying to move over to Seattle to be with his family. A.M.’s mother has her aunt and mother-in-law in Seattle. In addition, to A.M. mother’s stress her other two daughters are at the Valley Hospital’s NICU, requiring her to have to drive back in forth between Renton and Seattle. A.M.’s mother is trying to get her other two daughters transferred to the University of Washington’s Medical Center NICU.
4. M.M, a 4-month-old, female born on 12/7 at 33 weeks. M.M. was admitted to Seattle Children’s NICU 12/8. M.M. was diagnosed with Middle Cerebral Artery syndrome, Tracheoesophageal fistula, imperforated anus, cloaca anomaly, a single kidney, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. The main interventions for this baby is correcting her GI tract anomalies via surgery. 4/10- ET repaired.
