Elements such as chronological order, repetition, and precise descriptions of characters allow readers to interpret and capture the theme behind the text. As previously stated, these three short stories come from different points of views. Readers are able to observe and capture how the tone in “Lust” changes once the narrator realized that her actions have led to self-destruction. In “Boys” the tone remains the same as the narrator describes the life of two boys who learn to cope with normal and difficult life experiences throughout their childhood that eventually leads to them becoming men. Lastly, the tone in “Girls” remains intact as it consists of words of wisdom and scolding from a mother who only wants the best for her daughter whom she thinks is headed towards becoming a
