During the Revolutionary War and many wars to follow, the physical concept of Mission Command was not yet developed. However, as any leader in a military force, some form of a Mission Command philosophy has been executed in major military battles. Colonel William Prescott, the Commander during the Battle of Bunker Hill, while serving with General Israel Putnam, portrayed what is now known by the United States military as Mission Command Principles. The Battle of Bunker Hill began when the order came down that Colonel Prescott was to defend the Charlestown Peninsula from the British to prevent access to the mainland through the Charlestown Neck.…

Almost four years ago, I entered Clackamas High School as a confused, shy, awkward freshman. Soon after entering the hallways of this school, I was assigned to a Freshman Assurance group and met with the group leaders. My group leaders were vivacious seniors, who were condescending and gave very little advice on high school. I felt a little intimidated by them, and the activities that they led made most of the freshmen in our group uncomfortable. They told us about their craziest stories and about the teachers who weren't of the most pleasant experience.…
The Marine Corps leadership sets itself apart from the other services. Marines have a common core of beliefs instilled while at recruit training. Leadership understands the most precious asset is the individual Marine. Leaders have a responsibility to motivate and inspire Marines. The speed and tempo of the ever-changing world, and Corps, has caused certain aspects of styles of leadership to change and has resulted in a split in ideology.…
At some point, every leader probably thinks about how they want to lead and what is important to him or her as a leader. During the CSC coursework, I wrote my command philosophy, which gave me an opportunity to reflect on past leaders I had encountered, and project how I wanted to lead in the future. The command philosophy was a statement, written to the members of the unit, about what I valued as a leader. As a foundation for how to approach this philosophy, the CSC coursework described USMC General Lejeune’s teacher/scholar leadership approach (USMC CDET, 2013a). This approach to leadership rests on a foundation of ethics, directly supporting an ethos of core values, mode of conduct, leadership principles, and leadership traits (USMC…

Lieutenant Daniel point of view about his complex military operation was to study the reaction of the soldiers and the evacuees during the evacuation operation. “The situational leadership theory tells us that the directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating styles of leadership are all needed at different times (Kloppenborg, 2003). Lt. Daniel as psychologists understands how certain situation may be sensitive to certain individuals and how they would re-act about the come out. Lt. Paraben P2 Commander is a forensic examination tool used to examine collected data. In this case P2C will be used to conduct a forensic file analysis of a suspicious executable file, which has been unknowingly downloaded to a networked workstation. It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend Taler Brazell for future service as a MEDEVAC aviator. I was fortunate enough to instruct Taler in Military Science while at the United States Military Academy and can personally attest to her intelligence, motivation and leadership skills both in the classroom and tactical field environment. Talor quickly separated herself from her peers as one of the highest performing cadets I instructed at the United States Military Academy. She is a natural leader and possesses a drive to excel seldom witnessed among her peers.…
I can’t believe that we are almost done with the Advanced Leader Course (ALC). I must say, it was a wonderful learning experience. I learned from all the Small Group leaders and my fellow classmate and their respective experiences. I can proudly say that I am a better soldier and leader today comparing to when I first came to the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA). ALC been a great opportunity for me to totally change my view of managing and leading Soldiers effectively.…
I personally believe police commanders should have the technical capability to monitor what their officers are doing in the field. In today’s world, everything is almost run with some sort of technology and now it’s time for police departments to branch out and use all their available resources. I believe this strategy would affecting help cut back corruption and dishonestly within the police departments and with the public. I also believe police work will be effected only if you are doing something inappropriate, because if you were doing your job correctly you wouldn’t mind your commander monitoring you. As an officer, I would personally welcome this technology into my police department, since this technology will work in my favor when I’m…
All organizations, whether governmental, corporate or private have structure with leadership positions at all levels with different leadership philosophies. However, only Military is organization that differs from the rest of them because it is specific and complex. Therefore, leadership stiles and philosophies differ greatly from all other kind because they are far more special. There is no leadership position outside Military that will deal with hard decisions and motivation of people to encourage them to give their ultimate sacrifice for a greater good.…
Last summer I was a participant in the Advanced Leader program at YMCA Geneva Park. It was a one month stay at the park where a group of us took part in activities and programs that were developed to improve our leadership skills. These programs ranged from group activities to job shadowing at the park with the existing councillors. I went into this program relatively under developed in the areas of leadership that seem to be most important, however through that experience i have become a more well rounded person and have noticed significant improvements in multiple facets of my life. The most important aspect of anyone's personality is confidence and that is what i learned from this experience.…
