Absolutism is a form of government in which it is based on a monarchy which bares control over the kingdom as well as its population. Absolutism was not an uncommon thing in the eighteenth century, but became prevalent by the French king Louis XIV between 1643 and 1715 (Absolutism, 1998). Socialism is defined as an economic system and communism is both a economic system and political system. Bernard Crick wrote in his book Socialism, (open university press,1987), described socialism as,
“an invented system of society that stressed the social as against the selfish, the cooperative as against the competitive, sociability as against the individual self-sufficiency and self-interest, strict social controls on the accumulation and use of private property; and either economic equality or at least rewards according to merits (merits judged socially) or rewards judged according to need”. During the course of the nineteenth century, the socialist movement had come into existence, and growing at a rapid pace. Thus, resulting in the establishment of socialist parties throughout Europe. There is no political system like this system and often westerners will try to compare it with the Catholic church in Europe but with little avail. Republicanism is a term for the beliefs that have well defined the American political system. Republicanism stems from the idea of government that the people should be sovereign. In a system such as this, it is based on the assertion that liberty and power are constantly at odds with each other. Therefore, it is the duty of the citizens to protect liberty from the devastating destruction that can come with power. America is a great example of republicanism in the modern age.
