Intrapersonal stressors for the parent can include feelings of inadequacy or guilt. The parents may feel that it is their fault that the injury happened. Perhaps, down the road, they could feel like they may not be giving the care their child deserves. Intrapersonal stressors for a child could include feelings of jealousy toward the child because the affected child gets more attention and care. For the child, intrapersonal stressors depend of the prognosis. For example, if the child is affected by muscular dystrophy, he or she may have a low self-concept because of the inability to move as well as the other children. Interpersonal stressors may be: stress between the parents, possible altered communication between the parents and the child, and other children may have trouble making and maintaining relationships at school. Taking care of a child with an illness requires a lot of communication and because stress levels are high, communication may not happen correctly and confusion and anger may take place. A large extra personal stressor that may take place is stress regarding finances. Health care is very expensive and when a child has a complex illness, medical bills and expensive and necessary equipment for the child build up and the family may have difficulty paying for
