These strategies offer support and trust amongst each other. This trust and support can lead to individual development. For example, someone who avoids conflict may try to speak up and try becoming a collaborator. Agreeable goals can be met that have clear objectives and everyone knows their part. Recognition can help strengthen group work, for example, by shedding light on an idea or achievement for a job well done. This person is gaining self-confidence and self-esteem, and it may be the positive push this individual needed to get them moving in the right direction. Group work is strengthened by group decisions, a consensus rules mentality.
There are two decision making styles that I use. These decision making styles are intuitive and dependent. I say intuitive because most of the time I go with my gut instinct. I have a strong feeling of what is inside me and how to listen to that feeling in order to make a decision. I prefer to work alone, because the environment is unstructured, I can work at my own pace, and do things my own way. Being dependent is someone who wants to know the opinions, ideas, and seeks the help and support from others. Intuitive decision making can be used in future group work when there is a decision that has to made immediately that is of low importance and of little consequence. For example, the type of coffee you have every day because it is good. It is a fast decision that is neither important or of little consequence. Intuitive decision making can also be used when speed is a factor such as, an ambulance deciding who to respond to first in a multi car accident. A dependent style can be used in group work when others opinions of others is needed and supported.
