Antibody:-
An antibody is that can bind specifically to an antigen, present in serum and other body fluids which mediate humoral immunity. The Serum which comprises antibodies (directed …show more content…
Antibodies cause antigens to clump together. IgM is more effective that IgG. The Hemagglutination is the Clumping of red blood cells. The term agglutinin is used to define antibodies that agglutinate particulate antigens. Clumping is a serological reaction and is very alike to the precipitation reaction. These Agglutination reactions can be used for transfusion of blood cells and to identify bacterial cultures.
Opsonization
For opsonization the antigen such as bacterium ,is covered with antibodies that enhances its ingestion and break down by phagocytic cells. Antibody dependant cell mediated cytotoxicity aspect like opsonization in that the target organism becomes coated with antibodies, however damage of the target cell is by immune system cells that remains external to the target cell.
Neutralization: Immunoglobin G inactivates viruses by binding to their surface and deactivate toxins by blocking their active
