As a matter of fact, the society in which we live in is called “Consumer society”; “A society we in which people do not consume to survive in it, but to consume for pleasure, illusion and adventure. (320). I know a lot of people from my country who usually consume just to show off. For instance, most of these people from my country spend more than 1000 euros in nightlife by buying drinks and things that they don’t even really need. These are examples that make part of the “consumer society” circle because the money they spend in the clubs, is not used as a necessity, but as an illusion. However, we have the social and economic institutions which sometimes are called “the marketplace place” and they contend against each other in order to attract the consideration and the favoritisms of the consumers. For this man reasons, politically, not as a consumer, but as a producer. The common man has just preferring a nominal increase in their salary than a real increase in their purchasing power, provided by the productivity increase. The consumer is who buys products or services for personal use, not for manufacture or resale. A consumer can also be defined as those who make the decision to buy or not a product in a store, and someone who can be influenced by marketing and advertising. Whenever someone goes to a store and buy food, clothing, drink or anything else, you are making this decision as a consumer.
In economic terms, it is only effective consumer who defined the purchase of goods. Thus, the child who does not have their own money to buy, is not considered a consumer, even though their parents are. The retiree, who is no longer part of the economically active population, it is also a consumer. Every worker is consumer, but not every consumer is worker. If we could follow consuming without ever worrying about to produce and work, for sure we would do it. Therefore, if I ask people “Do you prefer to work more or to consume more?” I think the answer is obvious, everybody would prefer to consume
