The Severe acute respiratory was found in 2003 when it first hit China and caused a big outbreak. Studies have shown that SARS-CoV originated in bats and cats. Recent metagenomic studies of bats viruses identified several SARS-CoV DNA sequences that are at least 90% identical to the SARS virus.
