The covenant structure consists of the preamble, the historical prologue, the submission, the witness as well as the blessings and curses. The following traits is displayed in the covenant made by God and Moses at Mt. Sinai (Exodus 19:3-8). A treaty usually begins with the name, titles and attributes of both parties making the agreement (the preamble). The relationship between the two parties taking part will then recount the benefits given to each party, an essential part of the covenant (the historical prologue) as it unifies and seals that the agreement has been made. This is revealed as we look back to the liberation of the Israelites from Egypt by the will of God.
In order to complete the covenant, submission and loyalty must be shown to detail the certain conditions that must be met (the submission).
