Marilyn Lysohir and her husband are both entrepreneurs. They are like many Americans chasing the American dream of owning their own business. They both have a passion for the arts. Their love for the arts gave them the idea to start a magazine called Higher Ground. It is a once-a-year published magazine. Marilyn knew the magazine was not something that would produce a profit but enjoyed doing it. Marilyn and her husband wanted to find a way to fund their magazine. Maryiln would observe the consumers reactions after tasting her chocolates. Many of the varieties consumers felt were just too spicy. Her friends tasted her chocolates and told her that her chocolates were to spicy. She did not care for their criticism. Marilyn had placed her product in handful of specialty food stores that focused on hot and spicy foods but did not see them sell well. Cowgirl Chocolates had also tried to get their products into upscale retailers Dean and Delucca. They were known for specialty foods. The owner tried the chocolates and felt the chocolates were to spicy. Time and time again Marilyn had been told her Chocolates were to spicy.
