The first day of the school was over and we had just reached home from a silent car ride.
"What's wrong?" Ma asked.
"Two Purebloods!" Pa yelled. "Two goddamn Purebloods."
"What?!" I said astonished. "Where? At school? I didn't encounter--"
"The Beharry brothers," Pa answered. "How did you not realize?"
I scowled. Beharry brothers? Amar was a Pureblood? I knew he was too handsome to be a human! Pa's question wasn't invalid and I couldn't help but feel stupid. How could I not capture the scent of a Pureblood? After him, I should've been able to respond the smell of a true blood vampire. Even my own father was a Pureblood. I had even seen Amar use his power on Kamini! Of course, …show more content…
I didn't understand why he'd be infuriated upon seeing another vampire family. I was mostly surprised by the discovery. Who'd expect vampires in Darjeeling?
We had a silent evening and I decided to venture out. Though Pa was against it, I told him I'd be back after a midnight snack. The sunlight always kept me away from the outside. Being a creature of the night, it was in my nature to go out and feel alive.
As I strolled down the sidewalk, I realized how unfamiliar the Beharry surname was. The Purebloods were rare. Then how did I not come across vampires of this surname? I spent most of my lifetime outside India, maybe that's why. The last thing I expected from India was a Pureblood family.
"Soma."
My surname was spoken in a normal voice even though the culprit was more than twenty feet away. My advanced hearing alerted me before my nose could get a whiff of the vampire presence. I could smell fresh and healthy human blood too but the street was completely empty.
Seeing the unique blue eyes, I stopped and crossed my arms.
Amar approached me with a light smile.
"Can't believe I missed your scent before," he said and clucked his tongue.
"I can't either," I …show more content…
"If anything happens, we'll move again."
She hated moving more than me.
Just for her, Pa and I went to school in a grouchy mood. Friya met me first period with a cheerful face. I searched for Kamini's group which hadn't entered yet. Angadh was arguing with Friya about something.
"Soma, what's tastier: Pizza or Maggi (noodles)?" Angadh asked.
"Both are disgusting," I said and flinched.
"What?!" They gasped in unison.
"I'm a vegan," I lied.
"Hear hear!" Friya stood on top of her desk, calling everyone's attention. I hissed at her to get down. She was calling unnecessary attention. "We have a pizza and Maggi hater in class!" She pointed at me. "Vegan alert."
"Is that why you're so pale and pretty?" some girl asked me.
"I thoughts vegans ate noodles," Angadh said baffled.
Did they?
"I don't."
The girls in the class began saying how they were going to become vegans from now on. I gave Friya a dispproving look as she sat back down.
"Look what you did, Soma," Angadh said. "Now, everyone knows the secret behind your
