For the past three years with a brief six-month break in between, I have worked as a team member at two different Target stores, one near home and one in Boston’s Fenway area. My most recent position - customer service manager - has placed me as the direct overseer the daily activities of 10-20 employees on a given day with emphasis on long-term development. In addition, I am a student ambassador on campus at BU’s Educational Resource Center and Center for Career Development. There, I am privileged to work with my fellow peers in order to increase awareness and use of the centers’ resources in a team-driven environment. I see leadership not as one person forcibly moving another in the direction of one person’s desired outcome. I look at my leadership role not in a hierarchical manner with me demanding excessively from my employees but rather in a collegial way.
