The concept of culture and popular is need to be known in order to understand popular culture totally. Thus, the creator of these concepts should be taken into consideration.
Undoubtedly this creator is human being. People live in society as communities and they create culture and it occurs both as material and intellectual (Erdoğan,1). Traditions, eating and wearing styles, religions, literature, music and also expressions constitute culture.
Different cultures are in interaction with each other and they exchange their own cultural values. In process of time, culture appears as high culture, folk culture, mass culture and popular culture. …show more content…
People often face with these capitalist elements on various fields , such as advertisements, films, novels, articles, magazines. As well as the capitalism, patriarch is also one of the nonignorable elements of popular culture.

Wag the Dog and In Time from the point of popular culture.
Firstly, the negative influences of mass media on popular culture should be mentioned.
The manufacturers use mass media for their own benefit and especially in America by using television, newspapers, magazines lots of messages are imposed on people. As it is noted that American horror films influences young generation, especially teenagers become more inclined to violence. And also it is stated that “Americanisation” is a threat for cultural values and national identity because American movies started appear in many countries (Hoggart,

One of the best know movies Wag the Dog by Barry Levinson is a great example of misuse of mass media by upper class. In the film, it's only a few weeks before the Presidential election and someone spread a rumour about President. They have to distract the citizens from this gossip. The fixer of the President Conrand Brean (Robert De Niro) makes a contract with the most famous Hollywood film producer Stanley Motss (Dustin Hoffman). He calls the well known models and singers in order to make a fake-effect of war with the help of mass media.
Furthermore, they shoots a short video that a war weary young girl escapes from the country with her kitty. They add some effects by using photoshop. This news becomes the current topic of the country and people are
