Animal testing has a monumental effect on the medications that can be given to humans. The testing of animals helps scientists discover treatments, medications, and prescriptions to boost people’s health and advance medical products. A lot of the drugs that are on store shelves are there because they were tested by animals and ensured to be safe for humans to consume. Some life-saving treatments that are a direct successful result of animal testing consists of: chemo, insulin, vaccines, and antibiotics, as well as HIV drugs. Animal testing is an exceptional study because it improves the health of humans. Without testing on animals scientists and doctors wouldn’t get the chance to even create safe, ready-to-distribute drugs in the first place. Humans would either die from the unpredictable medication or they would suffer through the illness/disease without the hope of recovery. Therefore, animal testing is a medical savior, ensuring that drugs are safe for humans to consume. Experimentation on mice is one of the greatest discoveries of medical history. According to, ( PROCON.ORG), “...mice are 98% genetically similar to humans.” Since humans and other mammals all originated from the same ancestors, and every creature has the same internal features (heart, lungs nerves, bloodstream, etc.), it’s …show more content…
(PETA) says, “ Before their deaths (the animals), some are forced to inhale toxic fumes, others are immobilized in restraints for hours, some have holes drilled into their skulls, and other have their skin burned off or their spinal cords crushed.” During animal testing the animals are kept in empty, dull, isolated cages in which they are either deprived of food and water, or it is micro-portioned for them. Each year, mice, pigs, cats, dogs, fish, rats, rabbits, monkeys, birds, etc., are butchered in the United States. These murders take place in labs for many different reasons, some including: University lessons, medical classes, chemical, food, drug, and makeup testing, as well as people experimenting on animals just for the fun of it, to see what they can do and how far they can push the
