Child abuse does happen outside the home also like in daycare or any place that an adult is in charge of watching the child. A child who has experience abuse is more fragile and usually more reserved than normal child. The physical abuse affects the child thoughts and minds tremendously. This is when the children get lost and grow up hanging out with the wrong crowd. Physical child abuse is physical injury inflicted upon the child with cruel and/or malicious intent. Examples of physical injury are punching, beating, kicking, biting, burning, shaking, or anything that harms the child physically. “Younger children may be particularly vulnerable to the effects of maltreatment. Furthermore, the early development of aggressive behavior in children can lead to persistent patterns of maladaptation through adolescence and adulthood, heightening the importance of understanding early adaptation patterns.” (Holmes177) This quote explains why younger children are more prone to having negative behaviors when being abuse. This is mainly because the child begins their lives in traumatic circumstances. “Some witness violence at home or have parents with mental illness.” (Cohn11) A child learn from what an adult or role models does, so when they continue seeing violence in the home most likely when they are older they act the same way. The image of attacking someone or vice versa, buries in the child’s mind so when they get older they continue acting that way. It is very hard to have a child go through abuse and not become an aggressive person. Results show that if parents become successful or not, nice or mean, whatever the case is the child would be just like the parents. Parents are the main role models of the child because that is the person they look up to and want to be like when they get older. When the child gets physically abuse they grow up and act the same way toward their partners by seeing that happening when they were growing up. When older the child come to expect violence in everyday life and not realize that there are other ways to deal with the problem not just physical harm. Parents divorcing can also be one of the main reasons why a child can grow up being an abuser because they lack good role models.
