I moved to a new town, began classes at a new studio with people I’ve never danced with before and to make things worse, I was starting my freshman year of high school. That’s a lot for a 14-year old girl to deal with, but after a few months of being bitter about the situation, I realized there was nothing I could do about it and I saw it as a new opportunity. I was working on competition dances with my new team and as much as I loved them, it was a little unnatural, because I was so used to rehearsing with the team I’ve been dancing with since I was eight. I tried making the most of it, but it could be hard at times. Once competition season started, everything got better. The team was doing really well and we won numerous awards. At the end of sophomore year, we went to nationals, and the best part about it was that it was on a Carnival Cruise ship. That trip was a life-changing experience because I realized who my real friends were, and that I wanted to continue dance as a career. Junior and senior year, I was very focused on dance and I was rehearsing constantly. I had bruises all over my legs, sore muscles and I kept a heating pad in my purse for a pulled hamstring. It could be rough, but all the blood, sweat and tears were worth
