It was about six in the morning. I felt like I just ran a mile because I slept for measly six hours. When I went outside, it was as cold as the arctic ocean. I felt like I was going to freeze to death. In the weightroom it was a different story. The room temperature was so extreme everyone had flowing rivers of sweat on their bodies. It was hotter than a fresh lit fire outside and it was even worse on the field. I could see the heat waves rise up from the boiling turf field. I knew that I was about to go through the underworld and back. We were in full pads so this made the heat ten times worse. We had to tackle at the very beginning. The popping of the pads sound like two cars in a head on collision. Now that we started moving the sweat began to flow like the Mississippi River down everyone's backs. We went off to defensive practice and that made everything worse. We had to do a pursuit drill that made everyone's legs feel non-existent. The turf didn't help because it was so hot that it made our feet feel like we they were on hot coals. The little turf beads began to melt and stick to the bottom of our cleats. I felt like I was going to pass out or die. Even though there was water this time my mouth still felt like it was filled with cotton. My teammates groaned like they were being burned alive. The sound the scoreboard made after a period was over got longer and longer as the practice went on. When I heard the final whistles blow I felt like I just won the lottery. I knew that I was done for the
