Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus is a growing global problem with huge social, economic, and health discrepancies. It is a chronic metabolic disorder. 6.4% of the adult population is suffering from this disorder. Not many know that one third of all people with diabetes do not know they have the disease. Also that type 2 diabetes usually doesn’t start with any signs and symptoms. If you are at risk for type 2 diabetes, it can be prevented with moderate weight loss of about 10-15lbs and 30 minutes of moderate physical activity each day. Also only about 5% of people with diabetes have type 1. A diet plan for diabetes is not much different from the recommended for people without diabetes. Diabetes happens to be the leading cause of blindness in the working adult. People who are overweight have a better chance of inhibiting diabetes if they get bariatric surgery. The expenses of diabetes are shocking within themselves. Diabetic cost $174 billion annually, including $116 billion in direct medical expenses. (Eckhard. M, et al (2009) Infections in Diabetes;
