As stated by Flanders & Lakhani (2012, p. 477), radiology offers two basic services: imaging analyses and reports. Additionally, the images that the radiologist is deciphering is part of medico-legal documents. Therefore errors in Radiology may result in negligence that can lead to a lawsuit. As indicated by Owens, Taylor, & Howlett (2016, p. 593), there are multifactorial reasons that caused these mistakes; no single reason was identified behind these flaws that happened during the exploration of the imaging study. Gone are the eras where the physician will not tell the patient the mistakes that were committed. Berlin (2013) strikingly uttered these words “If a mistake is made by medical personnel or me, you will not be told, it will just be attributed to your illness that could not …show more content…
(2011, p. 377), there are four principal causes why a claim can be filed against a Radiologist: First, observer mistake, in essence, there is a perspicacity error committed due to reliance on another provider's interpretation of the radiologic results. Second, errors in analysis, third, failure to provide recommended intervention and finally, inadvertently failed to communicate the findings to the appropriate patient's provider. Pinto & Brunese (2010, p. 379) stressed out the importance of proper communication and documentation to subdued the chance of losing to a prosecution. Documentation elements that the investigators suggested should include the date, time, the individual you spoke to and the details of the discussion that took place. As part of multifactorial triggers on radiology error, fatigue plays an important role due to the increased workload of the radiologist, followed by frequent interruptions, varying views from colleagues and finally visual strain from reading the clinical images (Sokolovskaya et al., 2015, p.
