The struggle to defend Islam. This option is only to be used when peace can not be established or the other side refuses to come to peaceful means. Military jihad (or Holy war) is used specific to protect the Islamic faith. It strictly prohibits the killing of innocents such as women, children, and invalids (people who are not involved in the matter). According to the Quran, 2.190 “Fight against those who fight against you in the way of Allah, but do not transgress, for Allah does not love transgressors.” This simply means, if they will not go peacefully, or if they start the fight, then defensive actions may be taken against them. When used out of concept, it can be easily strewn into crazy and outlandish proportions. This can be done so easily that the false accusations can easily and quickly outnumber the truth which then is accepted as the truth. With little to no effort it was easy to find articles, websites and documents stating Jihad is Islamic holy war and related heavily with terrorist attacks. This is incredibly false, but the statements given falsely were so detailed, that a person new to the concept could easily understand and accept it. The connection with Jihad and terrorism is only weakly linked. Often I was was Quran text taken out of context. Only the bad bits displayed and reconstructed to assume they are about only harm. It hurts me to see how people can do this but my opinion is beside the point. Terrorism is more constructed from false interpretations of the Quran and other Islamic scripts. There is proof in the Quran saying specifically that self harm (including suicide) is a sin. Quran 2:95 “and make your own not your own hands contribute to your destruction; but do good; for Allah loves those who do good.” this states specifically that any harm you do to yourself is a sin and is strictly forbidden. Also stated is in Quran 4:28 “ Believers! Do not devour one another possessions wrongfully; rather then that, let there be trading by mutual consent.
