The Brothers Grimm Rapunzel and Disney’s Tangled share in their themes of vanity and rage. According to the Grimm tale there is a poor couple that wished to have a child, the expecting mother longs for a salad call rapunzel, which grows in the neighbouring garden of a witch. Her husband sneaks into the garden and steals from the witch, angering her and makes a deal that allows him to get all the rapunzel his wife desires in exchange for their unborn child. Once the child was born the witch locked her up in a tower away from everybody. Alternately in the Disney version the Queen becomes sick while with child and needs a magical flower to help heal her, and a witch needs the same flower to keep her young and beautiful. Once the child is born the witch steals her and locks her away in a tower to keep her safe and continues to use the flowers magic through the child 's hair. In both stories Mother Gothel takes the infant Rapunzel away from her birth parents, with the only difference being in the social status of Rapunzel and that in the Disney version they use creative licence to change Rapunzel’s parents from being people who gave up their daughter to pay a debt into good parents that have their child stolen from them. In the Grimm tale the moral focuses on not being wicked to another while Disney teaches that if you are kind good things will come your way and both share in the theme of greed, while those message relates to each other the level in which they deliver is different. Both stories start with the death of Cinderella’s mother and the remarriage of her father to a woman with two daughters, differing slightly in the fact that Cinderella’s father does not die in The Brothers Grimm version. While Disney grants Cinderella with a room the Grimm story has her sleeping in the ashes by the fire, where she gains the name of Cinderella. In both version Cinderella is the maid of the household, in the Grimm tale her father leaves to go the fair and ask the girls what they would like him to return with. The stepsister’s request beautiful clothing and jewelry while Cinderella only asks for a twig from the first tree that touches his hat on the way home, when he returns with the gifts Cinderella goes and plants the twig at her mothers grave where she weeps and prays three times each day. As the tale progresses there is a ball, fair, being held for the prince to find a bride, Cinderella wishes to attend but the stepmother forces Cinderella to do tedious chores before she may go, both tales share in
