The verbal rules that I broke include pronunciation, inside jokes, and talking loudly. I waited until I saw those in my experiment during the same day before completing two of the three experiments. I began by breaking a phonological rule of language by mispronouncing the names Danika, Rosanne, and Jennifer. During that day I also broke a pragmatic rule of language by telling inside jokes from other relationships to those not in the relationship. The last rule I broke was at the grocery store with my household. While at the grocery store I broke the rule of talking at an appropriate volume by speaking far too loudly in a public space. Everyone who was a part of my experiment all formed impressions of me based off of the way I was breaking the rules. This was an interesting experiment to see how differently people would act to different rules being broken that are followed without question daily. Through this experiment, it became apparent that communication has rules that govern our everyday lives more than others believe and breaking them will inevitably create reactions regardless of the rules broken. The next time I want to challenge others I will break a verbal or nonverbal rule and see how they
