The location is the most important aspect in defining the difference between cities and rural towns. Take a look at the map of America’s most populated cities; you may notice that most of them are concentrated near a major body of water, whether that be a river, lake, or ocean. For example take the most known city, New York, and think where it 's located. Of course, it’s located near the Atlantic Ocean which is a major body of water. However, if you look at rural cities, you will notice most of them do not reside near a major body of water. Take Drewsey, a rural town located in the southeastern part of Oregon, as an example.
