In this book, main character is the author, and she explains her own life. She was born in Ohio which is located on the northern America. People who were living in north are not racists and they did not face any racism. However, her parents got a divorce and she, her mother, and her brothers moved to the South Carolina which is located on the southern America. White people who were living in South Carolina are usually racists, therefore they faced the discrimination against African Americans. At the same time when they move to South Carolina, there is the big movement called “Civil Right Movement”. This movement was caused by African Americans and they try to stop the discrimination against themselves by using civil disobedience. For example, African Americans tried to sit the lunch white only counter, and when white people tried to boot out them, they refuse to leave. If white people violate them, they never violate white people because it is way of the civil disobedience.
