For over 92 years the Walt Disney Company has been influencing the world, from making baby clothing to making toys, to making live action movies. In the last 79 years, there has been an animated Disney Princess/Prince movie seen by the world. Generations of children have grown up with the Disney movies, buying on VHS sets to buying them on DVD sets, to watching them in theaters and streaming them through Netflix and Hulu. People of all ages pride themselves with their knowledge of Disney film trivia, having so many collector versions of the movies or of toys. Other new themes should be examined throughout the films and written down and defined into specific categories. The biological sex of the character as well as the masculine and feminine characteristics should be coded for each Disney Princess/Prince. Social roles are to be coded to determine the differences between the Princess and the Prince. The definitions and operations of the coding categories should be established and based on past research, learned definitions, and a coding method sheet that already defines some of the parameters. By choosing Disney and children that are between the ages of 4-8 years old, we can see how the influence of what is shown to children at such early ages will go on to affect them when they are older. I think the research would best be done with another method in correlation to this method, because with just doing a content analysis paper, it is hard to determine how these above categories will influence a child’s ideas of the world, themselves, or romance, unless another method is used to examine the child’s thoughts on these ideas. The research above will be useful in helping in a survey method of study with this specific research
