The impact that this teacher’s actions and attitudes have on her students and her paraprofessionals, is that it shows an unwillingness to help. Instead of making sure that her students are actually learning something, and her paraprofessionals actually getting real experience in a special education classroom, the teacher would rather give the busy work, and read the newspaper and play on her phone. Being conscience of what you say, how you say and the manner of which you present your words are key to any professional. You never want something to come across as something completely different than what you originally intended. Secondly, I believe that professional behavior is also demonstrated through just the basic act of being a professional educator. Professional teachers are people “who have a firm grasp of the subjects that they teacher, and are true to the intellectual demands of their disciplines, they are also able to analyze the needs of students for whom they are responsible” (Tichenor & Tichenor, 2005, p. 90).

This standard is important to this case, because this is one of the major CEC Code of Ethics standards that Mrs. Martin is violating in her classroom. She does not give her students work based on their intellectual level and instead just lets them waste precious time in the
