In the United States, medical payments can be wired directly to hospital ban accounts with the aid of computers. Also, electronic filing of patient’s transaction information is made possible to ensure simplicity and ease of making insurance claims. The usage of computers have made paperless transactions a reality, thus enabling a convenience for not only the patients but also the health care staff responsible for managing hospital accounts (Collen 4). To add to that, most medical field use computers for billing and accounting operations. Computers help in recording the daily financial transactions that has taken place. One risk associated with the introduction of computer is the privacy concern of patient’s information. With increased cyber attacks, information relating to particular patients can be obtained by the hackers for selfish gains. A report by the Department of Homeland security stated that computer devices used in the medical field are more vulnerable to cyber attack because of their weak network security. A research performed by a cyber security expert named Kevin Flu showed that more than 40 per cent of the computers used in hospitals are prone to risk because of the remote “root” access to the network. The attack of the virus in these computers would result in the wipe out of the entire patient’s information. Moreover, when the virus infiltrates the system, it could lead to the wrong diagnosis of a disease and make the doctor treat the patient differently. This could result in the wrong treatment of the disease and thus providing wrong medications. So, the risks associated with using computers is losing stored medical records and in extreme cases even loss of patient lives through the inaccurate diagnosis of a
