The Allied powers owed the United States over seven billion dollars after the war and then eleven billion dollars in 1922 for loans to rebuild the damage. This effected the home of the world money market to moving from London to New York. The countries in Europe had changed from being the loaner of the world to the debtor. Another effect of World War I that hurt Europe was that the war almost killed an entire generation of Europeans. Over eight million men died fighting and twice that were the number of men wounded permanently.
The events that happened during and after World War I would lead up to World War II. Some men that survived World War I eventually became leaders for their countries in the 1930s, like Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. The citizens in their countries looked up to the survivors as father figures and leaders since they fought in the frontline of battles.
