Maarten Raven article on the Egyptian Concepts on the Orientation of the Human Body is a well written and well argued article that does not relate to postmodernism, also it is a very broad concept on how the Egyptian thought about the human body. Marteen’s thesis is that the four magical bricks of cosmological principles that he underlined in the article, specifically the Egyptians ideas of what they believed in, and it helped them believe that “There is no doubt that to an Egyptian mind ‘four’ immediately suggested the cosmos, or rather, the created world(since the cosmos also compromised the notions of ‘above’ and ‘below’, that is, heaven and netherlands).” (38) Maarten makes it …show more content…
The Egyptians believed that it was very important where the dead body was facing when being buried this system was a followed with no exceptions because if they didn't the bodies wouldnt be resurrected thats what was promised and thats what was believed in.
Maarten notes that these ritual was very important to the Egyptians, and viewed the most specific burial rituals and if it was not a perfect burial they would not be able to resurrect. In the laying out of two sides of article, Roth and Roehrig forms an excellent use of some primary sources that show two of the competing point of views from the two. Maarten notes that in some aspects it needed to be more elaborated that even the case they have the same goals of explaining the various Egyptian rituals, as a result they do still have some common but Roth and Roehrig need to elaborate more on their work to build a stronger more case
