Only 30% of Argentina’s original trees and forest remain. The Chaco and Yungas rainforests are the primary forests affected by deforestation. These forests are “considered an international hot spot for biodiversity In Argentina” (Beyond the Amazon: Deforestation in Argentina). Throughout Argentina live many indigenous groups and tribes such as the Toba, Wichi and Mocovi. These tribes live in and throughout the Chaco forest. To these groups they land and natural resources are their way of life. Many of these groups have been moved away from the forests and moved into settlements. This has affected and caused a boom in poverty within Argentina. Many rules and laws to protect the tribes and their land are ignored and the trees and land are deforested anyways. Along with affecting the people, deforestation is affected the biodiversity. Some of Argentina’s highly populated animals, like like jaguar, are now nearing extinction. To go hand and hand with this, another major effect is the climate change. “It is said that today in Argentina deforestation contributes more to global warming than do the country’s cars, trains, planes, and boats combined” (Beyond the Amazon: Deforestation in Argentina). There is not any way to end deforestation completely, because the demand for the natural resources it provides is too strong. Paper is a big example of a product made from trees. But to make these type of products from trees, companies must cut the trees down to use them for their own benefit. “Companies can make an impact by introducing zero deforestation policies and cleaning up their supply chains” (Solutions to Deforestation). Another way is in the customer's hands. If consumers and customers put pressure on and fight corporations that practice bad environmental ways, companies will take notice and may change their ways. Buying eco-friendly and recycled products and help towards the solution to deforestation. While raising awareness and taking a step up can be beneficial and change the minds of some, it is not making as big of an effect as it should. People and organisations everywhere are spreading the word, but no one is listening. The demand for tree based products and fossil fuels is too high to stop cutting down trees. While there are subtle ways to slow deforestation, nothing will stop it. As of now, in the world, deforestation is not resolvable and no one has found an effective way of reversing the
