Background
A Chlamydia infection can lead to several problems for women such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and ectopic pregnancies (Chlamydial infections - 2015 std treatment guidelines, 2014). The first case of Chlamydia was in 1907 and was discovered by Stanislaus von Prowazek in Berlin. The name Chlamydia is derived from the Greek word chlamys, which means cloak, and trachomatis, which means rough or harsh, and knowing the meaning makes complete sense since Chlamydia is generally show no signs and symptoms of being infected (Suthar, n.d.).
