This country was a Spain colony since 1777 named Spanish Guinea. In 1968 Spanish Guinea granted independence and turned out to be the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, capital Malabo, North Bioko.
Equatorial Guinea has also experienced rapid economic growth due to the discovery of vast offshore oil reserves.
Weather
The climate of both the continental region and the islands is typically equatorial, with high temperatures. They only have two climatic seasons, the rainy and the dry season. The average annual temperature is 77 °F that varies little throughout the year. Afternoon temperatures reach the high 80s °F and drop to only about 70 °F at night. Most of the time the sky is cloudy and gloomy.

Average age is 19.8 years. 26.7 % of the population is metropolitan (350,238 people in 2018). GDP per capita in Equatorial Guinea averaged 7403.28 USD from 1980 until 2016, the last recorded is12028.60 US dollars. However, 70% of the population live in poverty.
Languages and Religion
Equatorial Guinea official languages are Spanish(since 1844), French (to join the Francophonie 1983) and Portuguese (adopted in 2010). It is the only sovereign African state in which Spanish is an official language. Other spoken languages in the country are Fang (most spoken), Bubi(2nd most spoken), Annobones, Combe, Ndowe, and Pichinglis. The majority of the population are Christian. 87% are Roman Catholic, 5% Protestant and 2% Islam.
