There are many different types of police officers. Some different kinds would be a sheriff which is a public officer that is responsible for certain types of law enforcement. Then there are marshals who are the head of the police department and protect judges in a court of law, and transports prisoners. There are also constables which is a peace officer but they do not have much authority a little less than a sheriff. Last of all there is the trooper or a ranger which a trooper is mostly on a horse or a riding animal of some kind.
