The Islamic State has one goal, to create a New World Order, the caliphate. They want a world system which operates through only the Islamic form of norms and ideals. The same idea is evident in the World State; everyone thinks the same and no one questions it. Likewise, both can only separate people into two groups. In ISIS’ case, it is the believers and the non-believers, seeing the believers as superior and the non-believers as their enemy, anyone in between should either be the killed or forced to pick a side. In the novel, the civilized residents of the World State are superior while the savages are inferior, anyone who does not obey the norms of the World State is forced to do so or exiled. Now in the twenty-first century, we seem to be closer to a World State-like society than anyone could have imagined. Not only can similar events in the World State be experienced in our society, but ideas from it can be seen repeating themselves in ISIS’ quest for the Caliphate. Although many applications from the World State may completely change society for, possibly, the worse, it may still bring some sort of stability to it if we are to find that “middle ground” without the over-exaggerations of the World
