Autism is a challenging disorder that affects many areas of the human body. Everyday people around the world are getting diagnosed, and living with autism or a form of it. Autism is a form of a brain disorder that changes the everyday life for the person living with the disorder. Not everybody who has autism is affected in the same way. The cause of autism is not known among the diagnosers.
Autism is a developmental brain disorder that affects every 1 in 68 Americans. Autism is often also called “ASD” Most of the people who have autism are diagnosed with the disorder at a very young age. “Autism, or autistic disorder, is a severe developmental disorder that begins before age three and involves impaired social interaction and communication and an unusually limited range of interests and activities.” (“Autism”). “There are three distinctive behaviors that characterize Autism. Autistic children have difficulties with social interaction, problems with verbal and nonverbal communication, and repetitive behaviors or narrow, obsessive interests.” (“Anonymous”). Autistic children have a very difficult time talking to people or even playing with other children. They also tend to have speech problems and are usually very sensitive to light, sound, and movement. When an individual has Autism they need a very routine schedule because they do not handle change well. In the book “RULES” by Cynthia Lord, David is a little boy with Autism, and his older sister Cathrine says this about david; “Sometimes I wish someone would invent a pill so David’d wake up one morning without autism, like someone waking from a long coma, and he’d say, “Jeez, Cathrine, where have I been?”” (“Lord”). This shows that when someone has Autism they can not control their own body, and not exactly know
