The battles that happened in the Renaissance
Renaissance is of one the most famous history period in the civilization history of human beings. In the time of Renaissance, the civilization process of the Europe was accelerated, and generally speaking, Renaissance is the symbol of the modern civilization and modern world. Basically, Renaissance is defined as a time period of Europe from 14th to 17th century, and during this period, significant breakthrough was made in the aspects of geography, arts and science. Therefore, Renaissance is also generally considered as the “bridge between middle age and modern human history” (Cronin, 1969). During this period, three major wars that kindly determined the fate of Kingdom England, which are the War of Roses, the Anglo-Spanish War, and the unification England and Scotland. The first major war that happened in English Renaissance is the War of Roses. The War of Roses is a series of wars to dispute for the throne of England. In the War of Roses, the armies were mainly made up of the lords and knights. In the battles of Wars of Roses, the archers and cavalries are the major troops and there was no hot-weapons were used (Haigh, 1995). The end of the Wars of Roses represents the start of English Renaissance. In the Elizabeth era, the English Renaissance had reached its peak, and at the same time, Kingdom England defeated Spain on the sea through Anglo-Spanish War that happened in 1585 – 1604. The battle happened between Spanish Armada and English Armada. In this battle, the hot weapon was widely used and by using the appropriate strategies, the English Armada defeated the Spanish Armada so that the Britain built up its naval supremacy (Starkey, 1999). Besides the battles that are described above, another major war in Renaissance is the war between England and Scotland.
