HEADER One of the most beautiful aspects of the United States is the fact that every citizen has undeniable freedom and rights. One of the most controversial issues that are currently taking place in the United States is the issue regarding NFL and the right to kneel during the national anthem. Now I know what you’re thinking, what’s really the big deal about kneeling? Looking at the direct action we see that there is virtually no harm, however, when we look at the broad picture, we see otherwise.
Base of Conflict
Most Americans have begun choosing their side. Most NFL members have chosen to either remain in the locker room such as the Pittsburgh Steelers in order to avoid this absurd conflict, or they have chosen to stand individually.Some argue that they are kneeling during the anthem in order to protest for “Black Power” because they feel that they are oppressed in today’s society. Privileged, are US citizens because they are allowed to emphasize their love for their country at any given time. Kneelers tend to forget the true honor that they have to stand and show their appreciation for their country’s values.
Status
One of the key components of oppression is mistreatment. NFL players constantly reference oppression, but where is the mistreatment? Players make millions of dollars each year yet they feel as if society has wronged them. I’m sorry, but if that’s oppression, I would love to be oppressed. Stop bullying the system and stand up, you are only making a disgrace of yourself.
