The American and French revolutions were products of Enlightenment ideals, mainly influenced and inspired by writings of John Locke that proposed the idea of egalitarianism. Enlightenment ideals emphasized that every man should be free from oppression and tyrannical rule and should be allowed to live an independent life.. The Enlightenment, which began in France, brought about those under the thumb of tyrant governments to start to perceive the disparity innate in such frameworks. Unlike America the French went under dictatorship known as “Republic of Virtue”, which didn’t quite provide justice and liberty instead it was ruled by a later notorious dictator Robespierre, One of the leaders of the committee who was held responsible for the killings of thousands of French citizens. Robespierre’s reign was full of terror and unrest for the French. France managed to get rid of Robespierre, however shortly after his fall; another notorious dictator was put in charge of the country, infamous Napoleon Bonaparte. The French revolution resulted in dictatorship for a very long period of
