Hesiod’s and Homer seemed to have the same type of representation towards women, since in Homers The Odyssey even though some Greek women like Penelope was looked upon as gorgeous and a woman all the suitors wanted to marry, it shows that her very own son Telemachus had more power and control over their kingdom than she did. As well as having complete control over her as well. A huge difference between Hesiod’s and Homers representation of women with Medea, is Euripides portrayal of Medea was seen more as an independent female. She chose to have revenge on her husband, even if that meant sacrificing her own children. The most important difference between Hesiod and Homers, and Medea; was the dramatic ending that changed everyone’s view on women. Usually in Roman or Greek plays and stories, the female is not the one who stands up for herself, along with ending up on top. Especially since Medea was a woman that got away with murder and revenge. Unlike Hesiod’s ad Homers plays, where the women are and will always be portrayed as nothing more than a peasant and degraded.
