Animals deserve to have the same rights as humans do. It is not our right to slaughter or maltreatment them in any way. Animals are living things, and their lives are just as precious as a human lives. All animals have emotions and memories, and they are all smart in their own ways. All animals, including humans, are living organisms, and we should value the existence of all life on planet earth.
Animals, like us, also have emotions. Animals can feel happy, sad, and even jealous. Experts have trained dogs to undergo MRI and fMRI scans. Researchers found that a dog’s brain answers similar to a human’s brain when shown to voices and warmly charged sounds, such as crying and laughter (Fischer). Chimps, parrots, elephants, dolphins and monkeys have been studied for a long time, and have displayed many signs of intelligence. Self detection, social and semantic skills, and the use of instruments are all signs that experts use to prove that these animals have intelligence. Many people may think that only humans have the capacity to acknowledge themselves, or to be familiar, but the analysis of animals has refuted that idea. In one study, an elephant was gazing at its own reflection and saw some dirt on its face. He then tried to take the marks off his face with his trunk (Turner). To have self identification shows intelligence.
One of the reasons why people believe that animals should not have rights is for animal testing. Scientists do testing on animals, since they already know animals have the same organs as we do. Researchers use surgical techniques including kidney transplants, hearts transplants and even blood transfusions that are achieved in unfortunate animals. Another reason why people do animals testing is to provide the public with medicine. The same veterinary medicines used on animals like antibiotics, tranquilizers, and pain killers we use for human patients (Understanding Animal …show more content…
Humans can understand a larger number of words and views, whereas animals can not. We, as humans, have abstract thought which allows us to observe many things elsewhere we can sense. Lastly, every Individual can have his, or her, own ideas, which gives us a higher sense of knowledge and understanding (Wolchover).
Animal testing is a wrong act of cruelty. Animals everywhere get beaten up, stabbed, and killed for no good reason. People also neglect them by not giving them food, water, and shelter (The Humane Society). Animal testing is very expensive. Testing can take months to years to see the behaviors and studies of the examinations, at the cost of hundreds, thousands, and sometimes even millions (The Humane Society). Organs-On-Chips was created in Harvard’s Wyss Institute. It contains human cells and should be used instead of live animals. The chips are an alternative to research illness, medication, and poisons
