Capital punishment is so controversial because it deals with something sacred, life. Each side stated their point and an argument. Abolitionist feel human life reign above all and Retentionist feel like “eye for eye”. They both believe that their arguments are correct but when a topic is so controversial I don’t believe anyone is really correct. This brings me back to my question, whether or not capital punishment is ethical? And I would have to say that the answer relies on the person being asked. I personally believe that capital punishment is ethical and I’m completely for it. I believe just as Immanuel Kant, that if someone deliberately takes the life of an innocent person, then the murderer must deserve
