A photojournalist’s job is to take photos that supplement a news article or solely describe the whole event. Their main goal is to convey the truth through the photos they will produce. A photojournalist strives to take a newsworthy photo despite all the personal and external hindrances that may prevent him from doing his job.
As news photos are a big factor in news reporting and photojournalists have a role and responsibility to the public, photojournalism is also guided by ethics. Responsible photojournalism means adherence to a standard of ethics. “Ethics is concerned with a person’s duty toward moral obligations to humankind” (Fulton as cited in McDaniel, 2006).
