1. European exploration of the New World was a benefit to the development of world civilization due to the long term positive effect it had on morals and humans. The exploration caused a huge decrease in Native American population due to diseases and harsh treatment. Eventually, the settlers switched to using African “servitude” where African eventually became defined as property. Even though the overall economy of the European grew, it came at a cost of racism, dehumanization, and destruction of Native American culture.

In Europe itself the peasants did almost all the labor. They would often become serfs which would eventually lead to land ownership. They also employed indentured servants and had slaves in their large plantations in the Americas. Additionally, merchants were given privileges to guilds. The Italians had republics which were governed by merchant groups. They expanded traded by going into the Arab trade networks. The Native Americans such as the Aztecs and Incas also had local trading networks across their empires. Many tribes in North America also had their own region trade networks. The leaders would have most of the wealth, which they would share with their tribe. In Africa, there was also trade, primarily through Ghana, Mali, and Songhai. One huge factor that contributed to the population in these places was the potential for agricultural growth. Once Mexico and Peru started domesticating crops, food surplus encouraged population growth. Also, the predominant flow of migrants after the crossing of the land bridge was southward which made Mexico one of the most populated areas. In the Mississippi Valley maize, along with fertile soil along the river allowed for food surplus which allowed for population growth similar to the eastern woodlands. In the other areas the source of water helped for agriculture and
