The age of European Renaissance, Reformation, and Exploration is significant because it was an age of rebirth for the arts and learning, an era of change in religion, and a time of exploration and expansion. The arts were reemphasized with the techniques of Renaissance artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Brunelleschi, and humanism brought about a newly refined focus on learning. Europe expanded its trade routes, and gained partners for growing capitalism during this time, which was also known as the Age of Exploration. The Renaissance was a time of learning and creating well rounded people. Humanism, a way of thought that focused on humans and achievement, grew popular; one of the earliest leaders was Petrarch, a famous scholar and poet. Humanism taught people classical subjects such as history, grammar, literature, and philosophy. Several artists, architects, and writers appeared in prominence. Three artists in particular, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Michelangelo, were leading the age of the Renaissance.
