A primary theme throughout the course of this play is greed. Greed can consume a person, changing their focus and their mentality completely. In all my sons, both Joe Keller and George Deever are focused on profits and economic growth. They would do anything for the next paycheck, even if it meant selling defective parts to make a quick buck. Both these men remind me of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth because of the greediness. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth plots out the entire plan to allow her husband to become the king of Scotland. Macbeth began as the Thane of Cawdor, but he was not satisfied. He wanted more. Joe and George were the same way. They had a successful business selling parts, but they wanted money sooner, so they shipped out defective parts to keep their profits flowing. Not being able to see your family or friends really takes a toll on a person after a while. Every time I sent a letter to my family back home, there was always a voice in the back of my head saying they may never hear back from them, but you have to push that thought aside and focus on what you think is true. War can be the glue that holds a family together, or the thing that tears relationships apart. Family connections are not something to throw around like a ball in the yard. Its a precious gift that every person must maintain and aid to help it flourish into a strong family bond, anytime,
